How You Can Interpret Your Dream

If the dream feels significant to you, it will linger with you. The more significant the dream, the more impact it will have on your memory. It is these types of dreams that have a purpose. It is these types of dreams you want to interpret as it is usually a message from your Higher Self, your Spiritual Guides, or your Spiritual self.

Dreams, if they are a significant, will have an interpretation of an insight, and as such, can help you with your life.

Here is a formula to help you interpret your dream.

  1. Established an overview
  2. Interpret the overview.
  3. After interpretation of the overview, then gain the insight and meaning of the dream

There are two aspects in the dreams process. One is the reception of significant dreams.  (Was the dream different? Was it strongly significant? Was is strangely or subtly different from other dreams?)

The other is the interpretation of such. Interpretation is what the dream images represent. Interpretations is taking the images and translating them into a message. Sometimes the process can feel like the game of charades - taking images and clues and then piecing them together.

The insight is the lesson or the teaching to be learned.

Seek An Overview of the Dream

In dream interpretation, first seek an overview of the entire dream. How do you obtain an overview?

You recall the dream in detail. Do not suppose answers during the overview process.  Ask questions about the details and seek what may be important or contradictions or unusual or normal events.  In other words, what stands out in your mind? Because a dream is your own, you will have the advantage in its interpretation.

Interpret the Overview

You must maintain an open mind when interpreting dreams.  Once you have thought about an interpretation and have decided that it is not complete, you must be willing to disregard that interpretation.  As you explore interpretations to dreams, permit your mind to wander and explore other completely unrelated possibilities.

The interpreting of a significant dream does not always happen immediately. Sometimes it takes days or even weeks to ponder, or longer. Sometimes you will just know and gain the insight in a flash and a moment of pause. Sometimes the interpretation does not happen until you experience the event.

If there is any doubt of the interpretation by the person who experienced the dream, then more than likely the dream has not been correctly interpreted.

Gain the Insight of the Dream

For example, a children’s story is told to instruct. It generally has a story line that the child can follow and relate to in their life experience.  That relating to experience can be called the interpretation but a special reason is withheld in the story for its telling.  In other words, the adult told to story to instruct the child in a specific point which is called the moral. Usually such morals were that you should behave well, don’t each others porridge, etc.  You get the idea.  The moral is the insight.  The insight is the basic idea being taught.

Question:  Is the insight coming from the mind or the higher self?
Answer:     It can be either, but generally it is the subconscious trying to inform the conscious.  Those dreams which seem to standout vividly and have a tremendous impact are generally from the higher self.
