Background of the Ritual
The ritual or worship of the Goddess is related to agriculture. It was a woman who first recognized the benefits and abilities that agriculture would have for the human race. It is woman who developed this science and is women who created or caused the Goddess worship to flourish, for they saw the relationship between themselves and the earth. This is not a coincidence, for the Goddess is truly nature.
A ritual is simply a motion of the body or an expenditure of physical energy and time, unless the spirit and the mental and the physical all work together to produce a spiritual experience. If the experience is not pleasant or spiritual, then perhaps you can modify it to become such or it may mean you do not have a desire for rituals, which is alright. You shouldn't force a desire if it is not there. It is important that you feel completely free and comfortable with the subject of rituals before embarking to use them. You should not try to force something that isn't there because it won't provide positive results.
Objects Used in Rituals
If you desire to use rituals in your spiritual process, you will most likely want to obtain certain objects to assist you in your rituals of choice. The reason for this is that as you continue to use these objects that have been set aside for only rituals, they will gain a strong mental picture in and of themselves. They will, in other words, invoke a strong mental image that will help in the ritual.
The ritual brings the body and the mind together in an activity with a desired spiritual outcome. It usually focuses on a blessing, a spiritual gift, blessing, or desired change. The physical situation of the ritual is not what is important but the mental processes the ritual invokes are what is important.
