When the Tao decided a way to experience more was to fragment, the Tao did just that, fragmented and created us; individual souls. One of the methods to have individual experiences was to incarnate on the physical earth with a physical body. After that experience, we would return to the astral plane and review what did, what we experienced, and what we we learned.
After a period of time, most of us decided to return to the physical earth and try something new and different. “Wow, that sounds like an interesting learning experience, I want to experience that, too!” or "Boy, I want to do it different next time. I don't will be so much better next time!" So we returned to earth in a new incarnation with new expectations. At first, things didn't play out like we expected. Eventually we found ways to improve the probability of experience more what we desired.
We eventually learned why people were having different experiences on the physical earth. One of the assessments was due to a person's soul age. Just as we age and mature on earth, a soul will age and mature spiritually, too. On earth we age physically. In the spiritual realm, we age spiritually. This is called soul age.
Typical Soul Age Characteristics
The first phase is called the baby phase and people with souls at this stage are called baby souls. Just as babies have certain characterizations in the physical world, a soul will have certain characteristics when they first begin to incarnate. In the book “Message from Michael” by Chelsea Quinn Yarbro she describes the different soul ages.
Infant souls essentially do not know how to confront the world effectively. The Infant soul age is to the soul as the first decade of a life is to a person. Even as children are learning to walk and talk, so Infant souls are learning the basics of getting around in the world. Children are new to the world in a physical sense. In a psychological sense, Infant souls are new to the world, and consequently they do not know very much about what is going on.
Baby souls are typically clean and neat. They keep the house and automobile tidy. Their desks at work are orderly. They are proper and mannerly, following the rules of etiquette. They associate with the right people. They do things the correct way. They borrow simple concepts of right and wrong from the rules of society, or better yet, what they perceive to be the laws of God, and then stick doggedly to them all their lives
The Young soul perceives "me" and "you", and wants to change "you" into "me". The Young soul wants to organize people into a society, a civilization, or a company. Young souls are enamored with the glamour of the physical realm — new cars, fine homes, fancy clothes, and so on. They want to look good to others.
Mature souls seek to comprehend everything. There is very little that escapes their view or scrutiny. They truly want to understand. It may not always be in a formal or institutional setting, since this can seem too structured and limiting (too Young-soulish) to them. They often pursue knowledge on their own. Mature souls are in a searching mode all their lives. There is an itch to "find themselves" and "express themselves". Personal fulfillment is their constant quest. This they never quite achieve to their own satisfaction.
Old souls are individualistic — they believe that people should basically do whatever they want to do, so long as it doesn't hurt anyone else. The motto of the Old soul is, "You do what you want, and I'll do what I want". They rarely campaign for anything. They do not want to change the world — they just let it be. You might say they have the ultimate "laissez faire" (leave it alone) attitude — let nature take its course and don't interfere with the system. "Live and let live" is another appropriate motto for the Old soul. At the end of a full life comes the time of old age. Much that can be said about an Old soul is what would be said about an old person. Usually old people have traveled to many places and done many things. They are a storehouse of wisdom and understanding because of this range of experience. But in spite of their competence they do not usually accomplish very much.
Another source of differences in experience was due to having different personality traits. Those personality traits were identified and categorized as the goal, the mode, the attitude, the center, and the chief feature. The goal influences what we do; the mode influences how we do it; the attitude influences why we do it; the center is the part of self from which we do it; and the chief feature is often what blocks or distort our ability to accomplish our goals. Some call these personality traits “chief features.”
Different chief features produced completely different results in a physical incarnation.
Along with different personality traits, another difference was due to the type of energy the person created while he was on earth. This is called “karma” and if he created negative energy with misdeeds in an incarnation, this negative energy had a way of sticking to him until the debt was paid. This experience of carrying around negative energy baggage through repeated incarnations also affected a persons experience on the physical earth. It would be like carrying around a heavy weight ALL the time; during a physical life experience, after that physical life experience, then onto the next experience, etc.
In order for a person to rid himself from that continual baggage, he must pay off those karmic debts in someway during a physical life experience. It was noticed that you could pay back karmic debts on earth, and then a way was found to program that desire into a persons physical existence. Then it was noticed how you could provide opportunities to meet and interact with certain people &/or do good deeds and you had a higher probability of paying off those debts. The paying off the karmic debts removed the baggage the person had accumulated and restored the balance and harmony within that person’s soul. This made the person much freer in subsequent incarnations.
Improving the Ability to Have the Life We Desired
Over time, humankind learned how to improve the probability of creating and having the type of life experiences on the earth we desired and hoped for before coming to the earth. We learned how to identify personality traits, how to factor in soul age, gender, location, parents, and a number of factors into the equation as we set up planning what kind of life we desired. We learned how to program the ability to pay back debts. We also learned that if we asked some of our friends to serve as a Guide, they could help keep us moving in the right direction, keep us safe, or help us get back to where we needed to be.
Recently, we have learned there are additional ways to improve our probability to living the life we hoped to have before we were born. That process is about using spiritual energy as a way to connect to spiritual resources. This process helps us improve the ability to receive guidance, get messages, get information, and help in our life journey.
These processes of aligning our spiritual energy with spiritual resources allows our spirit to connect and move to and with these spiritual resources, and then report back to our mind and body the information it has received. This ability of aligning our spiritual energy (called tools) and learning how to receive guidance, spiritual input, and spiritual communication, allows us to make adjustments in our life so we can live the life we planned and desired before we even came to earth.
The Tao desires to create all types of experiences and by doing this, fragmented to allow an infinite number and different types of experiences. We are fragments of the Tao. We are here to learn, grow, and have different experiences. We have found ways to improve our life experience. We identify what we want to accomplish in a life experience before we are born and find ways to improve the probability we will have that type of experience when we are on the physical earth.
One of the ways we can improve the probability to have the life experience we were hoping for is to learn how to align our own spiritual energies to other types of spiritual energy frequencies so we can acquire the information and guidance we desire or need. Over time and with much practice, we can even develop spiritual gifts that can stay with us from lifetime to lifetime.
